Dual Language Mandarin at Doss Elementary
We are home to Austin ISD’s very first elementary school Mandarin program.
We started as a FLEX program for Kindergarten and 1st grade in the Fall of 2012. Then we opened a 50/50 Mandarin Chinese Immersion program in the Fall of 2013 with 3 classes:
a Kindergarten, a 1st grade and a 2nd grade cohort. In the fall of 2021, we became a dual
language program. We currently have a K-5th grade program.
Austin ISD Dual Language ProgramAISD’s Dual language program is open to all AISD students who are interested in a multilingual academic experience when entering Pre-K (only applies to Riley Elem), Kindergarten or within the first twenty (20) days of first grade, unless a language assessment in the partner language indicates they have the proficiency necessary to participate. Doss’s Dual Language Mandarin ProgramDoss Elementary will host information sessions for any prospective 2023-24 Kindergarten families with an interest in the program. If you are interested in applying for the Doss Elementary Dual Language Program, please attend one of these mandatory information sessions: Session 1: November 15, 2022 from 12:30-1:00pm in the Doss Community Room Session 2: December 1, 2022 from 6:00-6:30pm in the Doss Community Room Session 3: January 12, 2023 from 8:00-8:30am in the Doss Community Room Doss Elementary is currently accepting applications for those entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2023. Applications are due January 13, 2023.
